Gallery Saved

When the news broke in February 2022 that the stunning Footprint Gallery was going to
close its doors to artists forever, it’s fair to say that the local art community was devastated.
Two fellow artists Jan Park and Rod Sheppard decided to do their very best to save the
gallery for the local community, artists and groups in the wider region.

Business plans were explored, numbers were crunched and eventually they developed a
plan that would not only save the gallery for the arts, but would also add numerous benefits
for the local economy, tourism and the adjacent and very beautiful Jackfield Tile Museum
and the onsite Peacock Cafe. Finally after 18 months of (sometimes difficult) negotiations,
agreement was finally reached at the end of July 2023.

The brand was developed in conjunction with the design team at the Shropshire based
agency, Buy From, who continue to support the project. The refurbishment began with the
installation of new lighting and a heating system. Future plans to develop the gallery further
are on hold until it is possible to raise funds.

Footprint Gallery is now available for hire and already has an exciting programme of events
booked in for 2024.
